Of the 6 Steps for Building Peace our Listening Skills can be done unilaterally to calm things down.
By pairing the students up and doing a brief exercise they will discover that they feel better for having been heard.
As students realize they can use this skill with parents of elsewhere, they also hear that there are consequences to not acting upon agreements made after hearing the other side.
In the background, the Listening Skills exercise is a breath of fresh air after the students admit that friends have a need to give advice. The time slot brings the room energy back up, getting things ready to delve into leadership.
